Even as reports are received that the IMA promoter and scam accused Mansoor Khan has fled to Dubai and his viral audio clip was nothing more than a diversionary exercise, anger is rising against the government for not identifying the scam even when regulatory agencies had alerted on the same. The number of complaints that have registered so far with respect to the case has now passed 25,000, police officials confirm.
Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy Friday expanded his cabinet by inducting two Independent MLAs into the ministry in an apparent move to give stability to his 13-month-old wobbly government. Police also say that the total amount due to depositors could be in the range of Rs 1500 crores though the full and final figure is yet to be arrived at. A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the case.

Karnataka’s new ministers R Shankar and H Nagesh took oath at Karnataka Raj Bhavan to be part of the HD Kumaraswamy led Congress-JD(S) coalition government. Governor Vajubhai Vala, CM Kumaraswamy and DCM G Parameshwara were also present for the ceremony. Shankar had served as minister during the initial days of the Kumaraswamy government but was dropped from the cabinet during the rejig in December last year. He and Nagesh had sided with the BJP and written to the governor withdrawing support to the government.
Speaking at the official launch of English medium classes in Karnataka government schools, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara said, "No one should think that Kannada is being neglected as we begin English medium classes in government schools. Introduction of English in government-run schools in Karnataka was opposed by pro-Kannada outfits. This is believed to have delayed the decision across governments since 1994.

Mobility company Uber on Thursday announced a partnership with Bajaj Auto to launch the Bajaj Qute on UberXS in Bengaluru. The Bajaj Qute is a driver-plus-three-passenger quadricycle, which is a four-wheeled motor vehicle that’s smaller and lighter than a passenger car. The Qute comes with two fuel options — CNG and Petrol. This service will be available in Indiranagar, Koramangala, HSR Layout and parts of Outer Ring Road in Bengaluru.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy unveiled the Land and Building Plan Approval System (LBPAS). According to the Chief Minister, Karnataka is the first Indian state to take the process online. “Through this new system, people can sit at home, submit an application and get work done on approvals for building or layout plans,” he said.
Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has hiked student bus pass rates by Rs 100 to Rs 250 for school, college and professional college students of general category. The price for renewing the pass has also been hiked by Rs 100 to 220. BMTC on Thursday issued new rates for bus passes for the coming academic year, effecting hikes for all students except to those going to primary schools who will continue to pay Rs 200 for the annual pass.
Pre-university students will pay Rs 1,250 instead of Rs 1,100. High school boys and girls, who pay different rates, have to pay Rs 100 more.
