Meanwhile, a farmer from Mangaluru district has developed a machine that will help arecanut growers spray pesticides and harvest nuts from the trees. The machine, developed by a 60-year-old farmer, K Ganapathi Bhat, is modelled on a bike and allows a person to sit on it to scale the trees up and down with ease.

The residents of Indiranagar, one among the major spots in Bengaluru city known for clubbing, pubs and the city’s nightlife, have found strong judicial backing from the Karnataka High Court in their battle against nuisance created in the vicinity of their residence. On Thursday, the court had pulled up Bengaluru City Police for failing to take suitable action on various complaints that includes noise from pubs. An oral observation by the court termed the efforts taken by the police force as ‘casual’.

Over 4,000 students in 21 Government schools across Bengaluru took part in special yoga sessions held as part of International Yoga Day. Held as part of beginning Yoga for Young, an initiative spearheaded by Akshaya Patra Foundation, the event was held at GHPS Maralakunte with dancer-turned-actress Nithya Shri in the lead. The initiative aims to give students an option to consider yoga as a career option and to help them improve posture, concentration, and health.
Deputy CM Parameshwara said that there were apparently some issues in the coalition and this needs to be sorted out at the earliest. He would sit with senior Congress leaders and try to look into the reasons for Deve Gowda's outburst he said. Meanwhile Dinesh Gundu Rao has said that the coalition was not formed by Congress alone, and it was done with the concurrence and the collaboration of the JD(S).

Till now, the University had declared a holiday on the third Saturday.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will begin whitetopping work from Friday on the Palace Road stretch from Chalukya Circle to CID office headquarter junction. The stretch will be blocked for traffic; motorists coming from Chalukya Circle have to go via Devaraj Urs Road near the KPSC office and then to Palace Road. According to BBMP the traffic restriction on this stretch will be for 20 days.
Garbage marshals will work in different shifts, depending on the hours when the public movement is at its peak in the wards. BBMP has also decided to have marshals in the control rooms at all its eight zonal offices for better coordination between marshals, and to take immediate action during the field visits.
