Chandigarh: Pedestrian killed after being hit by jeep in Kurali

According to police, the victim was identified as Roshan Kumar , a resident of Samastipur district in Bihar.

A PEDESTRIAN was killed on Tuesday when a rashly-driven jeep hit him on Morinda road in Kurali. Police have registered a case against an unknown person, but the accused has not yet been arrested.

According to police, the victim was identified as Roshan Kumar , a resident of Samastipur district in Bihar. Kumar had come to Kurali to meet his uncle, Ashok Kumar, who works as a labourer in the area. Ashok said Roshan had come to meet him and had also been staying with him at his rented accommodation in Singhpura village near Kurali for past four days.

“Roshan wanted to visit the place of my work and was coming to Kurali, when he was hit by the jeep from behind. He received serious injuries and died instantly. A passer-by informed the police about his death. The police then called and informed me about the accident,” Ashok told Chandigarh Newsline.

He further added that Roshan was unmarried and wanted to work in Kurali. He also said that Roshan had wanted to stay with him for 10-15 days.

A case has been registered against unknown person under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 A (death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
