MARATHI EDUCATION, mscert The letter says that till now, the schools which had Marathi medium were affiliated with the Gujarat board.

The Union Territory (UT) of Dadra and Nagar Haveli has approached Maharashtra’s education department for affiliation of its Marathi medium schools. The Maharashtra State Council of Education Research and Training (MSCERT), which has received the proposal, is confident that the UT’s request would be considered positively by the education ministry.

The letter says that till now, the schools which had Marathi medium were affiliated with the Gujarat board. However, the students faced problems owing to question papers in Gujarati. Hence, the request for affiliation from Maharashtra State Education Board.

“The UT administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli hereby proposes to affiliate the Marathi medium schools functioning under the UT administration with the state of Maharashtra under the Maharashtra State Education Board (MSEB) and Maharashtra State Council of Education Resource and Training for secondary education,” said the letter, dated March 11.

The letter from the secretary adds, “As of now, the Marathi medium schools of Dadra and Nagar Haveli are affiliated with the Gujarat Secondary Education Board (GSEB) and are following the pattern of the Gujarat board syllabus. Though the students are studying in Marathi medium, the board papers received through the GSEB are in Gujarati. Due to this, the students are not able to understand the question papers properly and get poor marks in board examinations. This matter was also discussed with the GSEB but nothing conclusive has been heard from them. Hence, it is proposed to affiliate the Marathi medium schools of UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli with MSEB and MSCERT. In case of any other requirement, the UT administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli will provide the same.”

“We have received this letter from the secretary of Dadra and Nagar Haveli UT and are looking into it. We think it is a positive move and we will try our best to help. We will soon make a proposal to give affiliation of our board and submit it to the education ministry. The ministry will take a decision,” said N K Jarag, director, SCERT.
