Salman Khan starrer Bharat is surviving in its third week against all odds. The film crossed the Rs 200 crore mark recently. It is facing big competition in the form of Kabir Singh, a Shahid Kapoor starrer that has tightened its grip on the box office in just two days. Kabir Singh is a remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy.
Bharat is directed by Ali Abbaz Zafar, who also directed Salman in Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. Katrina Kaif, a regular collaborator of Salman, plays the female lead in Bharat. Tabu, Sunil Grover, Disha Patani and Jackie Shroff are also part of the film’s cast.
Despite average reviews, Bharat has managed to earn quite a lot of money, even though it will not be counted among Salman’s biggest hits. It became the biggest Eid opener for Salman Khan all thanks to his fans.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Bharat scores double century at the BO… Crosses ₹ 200 cr mark… Is best in North, although biz has slowed down in other circuits… [Week 2] Fri 4.30 cr, Sat 6.37 cr, Sun 6.19 cr, Mon 2.63 cr, Tue 2.32 cr. Total: ₹ 201.86 cr. India biz.”
Indian Express critic Shubhra Gupta wrote in her Bharat review, "The good thing about Bharat, despite its eye-roll moments, is its attempt to create an 'ordinary' man without any particular skills."

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar said, "Since Sultan and Tiger were big blockbusters, SK (Salman Khan) and I decided to team up on a film that’s different. We were aware that the new film’s business might not be the same as Sultan or Tiger Zinda Hai as we were on a slightly unconventional route. At the box-office, it has not done similar business as our previous films but is still a big moneyspinner for everyone associated. Not all films are meant to make Rs 300 crore at the box-office."
At the age of 53, Bharat star Salman Khan's fitness routine would probably shame somebody in their 20s. Whatever your opinion is of his acting skills, it is hard to deny that Bhai can be an inspiration for those trying to get in shape but do not have the will power.

In a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar said, "The film was most challenging as we tried to compress 70 years of history in two hours and in two hours and in doing so, one has to be sure of what to retain and to edit out. Also, since it's a period drama, I had to find emotion in something that I had not experienced in my life—it came from research."
