A day after Chhattisgarh Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel was remanded in judicial custody for alleged involvement in circulating a fake pornographic CD of minister Rajesh Munat, the BJP expelled its leader Kailash Murarka, who has been named by the CBI in the chargesheet.
Four people were named in the case apart from Baghel — Murarka, Vijay Pandya, Vijay Bhatia, and former member of Editors Guild Vinod Verma. Verma spent 60 days in jail on a non-bailable extortion charge in the case, and was released after the CBI failed to put up a chargesheet in time. But these charges found no mention in the chargesheet filed on Monday.

Murarka and Pandya did not answer the court summons.
According to the chargesheet, Murarka paid Rs 75 lakh to Pandya and Rinku Khanuja to create a morphed CD, which was used by Baghel, Verma and Bhatia to defame the minister. Baghel and Verma have denied the charges, calling them politically motivated. With the prime accused being a BJP member, BJP president Dharamlal Kaushik on Tuesday announced that Murarka had been expelled.
On Tuesday, the Congress said thousands of workers were arrested after the party announced a Jail Bharo campaign.
