Weather forecast and Temperature today LIVE Updates:Â As the southwest monsoon sets on its journey across India, southern India will continue to receive heavy rainfall for the next four days, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The monsoon, which hit Kerala coast yesterday, will be a relief for the drought-hit western region and for the south India where the water level in reservoirs have dipped to low levels.
On Sunday, thunderstorm accompanied with lighting and gusty winds is expected at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, north interior Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Pradesh; south interior Karnataka, Telangana, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh, East UP, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and with lightning at isolated places over Odisha.
The IMD station in Thiruvananthapuram had Friday declared a red alert in four districts of Kerala as the state prepared for the monsoon. The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in isolated places over Kerala, Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, apart from the northeastern states on Saturday.
