Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews responded to a house fire in south Lincoln on Saturday afternoon.
When firefighters arrived at the home near Yankee Hill Road and South 40th Street at about 3:30 p.m., the home's garage was fully engulfed, according to LFR Capt. Rick Schneider.
The fire was mostly contained to the garage and extinguished about 30 minutes later, Schneider said. All residents of the house made it out, but one person was transported to the hospital and treated for minor smoke inhalation.Â
"An off-duty chief and an off-duty firefighter actually live in the neighborhood and started the process before all the other crews got here," Schneider said.
The fire, which was caused by a coffee roaster that was left on in the garage, caused $185,000 in damage to the house and its contents, fire investigator Jason Relford said.
