Stamp collectors in the Lincoln area can find stamps from all around the world this weekend during the Lincoln Stamp Club’s 55th annual public stamp show.
LINPEX 2019 will be Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Omaha Room at Country Inn and Suites, 5353 N. 27th St. The event is free and open to the public.
Eight stamp dealers and the U.S. Postal Service will be at the show to sell stamps, and attendees can also get free evaluations for stamps. A beginner's table will sell stamps for 5 cents to adults and 1 cent to kids. The show is also an opportunity for Boy Scouts to work on their stamp collecting merit badge.
The Lincoln Stamp Club will also release a special stamped and canceled envelope celebrating the American Philatelic Society’s national stamp show in Omaha in August. The envelope will include a stamp celebrating Nebraska’s 150th anniversary.

Joel Johnson of the Lincoln Stamp Club will have an exhibit of homemade stamps and other stamps from his father’s collection.
He said the hobby is so engaging because of the wide array of themes depicted on stamps, and he loves seeing people of all ages enjoying themselves at the shows.
“There’s just about anything from animals to vehicles to buildings,” Johnson said. “If you’re interested in any topic, you’ll be able to find it on stamps. That’s what makes it so fun.”
