The National Weather Service has placed much of Southeast Nebraska, including Lancaster County, in a severe thunderstorm watch.
The watch covers most of the region south of Interstate 80 and is in effect until 10 p.m.
The counties included in the watch are Cass, Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Lancaster, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Saline and Thayer.
The weather service said large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats Saturday evening, and isolated tornadoes near the Kansas-Nebraska border are possible.
Thunderstorms are likely to continue into Sunday, and the weather service said flooding is expected along the Missouri River from Plattsmouth to past Rulo.
