The followers of a Sufi saint and poet Nyam Sahib attended elaborate functions at his tomb in Habakadal on Sunday. People from various places of Kashmir joined the Urs at Baba Pora Habba Kadal in old city Srinagar.

People from various areas of the city kept visiting the shrine during the day. An eyewitness said that special prayers were held at the shrine and religious scholars threw light on the teachings of the saint.

Nyam Sahib was born in Srinagar in 1805. The Sufi saint is known for his classical poetry which has a great impact on the people of Kashmir. He was a preacher of Sufism and mutual brotherhood and his poetry convey a love for Allah and his creation.
