Motorcyclist killed, passenger injured in crash near Silverton

SILVERTON, Ore. – A motorcyclist was killed and another person was injured in a crash near Silverton Monday morning, Oregon State Police said.

Troopers responded the crash shortly before noon on Highway 214 near milepost 38.

Investigators say 82-year-old Doyle Lewis, of Salem, was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on the highway when he lost control of the car and crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, 69-year-old Mark Clark, of Salem, was flown in a helicopter to Salem Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

His passenger on the motorcycle, 29-year-old Brandi Wilcut, of Salem, was taken in an ambulance to Silverton Hospital with serious injuries.

Lewis was not injured in the crash.
