Protesters have gathered again in Portland on Saturday for the third night this week.

Another 31 people were arrested, according to Portland Police Bureau on Saturday night. They say there could be more as they actively investigate Friday night's looting and the damage made to several businesses downtown.

Overnight on Friday, riots and looting took place in downtown Portland. Portland police arrested 13 after peaceful protests denouncing the death of George Floyd, a black man killed by a white police officer in Minneapolis earlier in the week, turned into a riot.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler condemned the violence and declared a State of Emergency in the city, enacting a curfew on Saturday night starting at 8 p.m.

On Saturday evening, protesters began gathering again and seemed to be blocked by police from crossing the Hawthorne Bridge.

Protesters also began to lay in the street near the justice center.

Our reporters are saying they are hearing tear gas as officers are warning crowds not to gather in the street.

Police have officially called this an unlawful assembly, and are asking people to go home.

Police said they have made their first arrest. Portland Police Chief Jami Resch released a video address Saturday evening asking people to stay away from downtown, and reminding people that a curfew is enforced, and the criminal activitiy is being addressed.
