Two crashes block I-84 WB east of Gresham

FAIRVIEW, Ore. – Two serious injury crashes were reported on Interstate 84 on Wednesday evening.

The first - a four-vehicle crash - was reported shortly before 5 p.m. near the Fairview Parkway exit, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies say one driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No word on the extent of injuries to others involved in the collision.

Westbound traffic is being rerouted via the off-ramp.

About 5:20 p.m. a second cras was reported in the westbound lanes just west of the 238th Avenue exit in Wood Village.

"Both crashes occurred when cars suddenly stopped. Please use heads-up driving!" the sheriff's office said.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible.
