One of the most highly sought after recruits from the state of Kentucky has gone through a transformation. Kiyaunta Goodwin has changed his appearance and his high school.

247 Sports’ Steve Wiltfong reports that Goodwin began his first day of classes at Charlestown High School in Southern Indiana. His third school in three years, the Louisville native began his career at Holy Cross before transferring to Ballard for the 2019 football season.

Goodwin was a recruiting sensation before he even began playing high school football. Profiled by Bleacher Report’s Adam Kramer in 2018, as an eighth grader he already had scholarship offers from Kentucky, Louisville and Georgia. Goodwin is still actively being recruited by the Wildcats and he’s visited campus multiple times. He recently added offers from Ole Miss and Florida State.

Ahead of his junior season Goodwin made dramatic changes to his body. He played the 2019 season at 425 pounds. Today he weighs 299 pounds. It’s the first time he’s weighed less than 300 pounds since he was 11-years-old.

I lost 126 pounds since March and I’m down to 15% body fat right now,” Goodwin told Rivals’ Josh Helmholdt.

“My weight was always my biggest issue. I always was the best tackle in the country, and that was something I was waiting to prove. My weight was just holding me back, and now that I’ve got it right with the right mental state, I’m going to be able to prove that to everybody.”

Now more agile than ever, Goodwin has a four-star ranking from Rivals and was considered one of the ten best players in the state of Kentucky’s 2022 recruiting class before he moved across the river to play football in Indiana.
