MAPLE GROVE, MINN. (KFGO) – Former Fargo resident Vince Lindstrom was in tears as the iconic, 850-year old Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris burned Monday.
Lindstrom, a world traveler, has visited the cathedral many times in the past 35 years and calls the loss a cultural and historical tragedy.
Despite the bad news, Lindstrom was elated to learn Notre Dame will be rebuilt and some of its most precious objects were saved.
He said one of those treasures is the cathedral’s immense pipe organ. Lindstrom said, “those who have seen it..especially if you’ve heard it play, it’s absolutely marvelous.” He added, “if it can still be played, that’s a miracle.. I have seen few miracles in my life..I would call this a miracle..we’ve had a great loss but they’re going to rebuild. Wow!”
Lindstrom, one time director of the FM Convention and Visitors Bureau, is a native of Lake Park, Minnesota and now lives in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
