BISMARCK, N.D. – Strong thunderstorms with heavy winds have caused damage from Beulah to Bismarck to Jamestown.
The National Weather Service says the storms Tuesday night damaged buildings, vehicles, crops and trees. Wind gusts of up to 70 mph and egg-size hail were reported in Oliver County. Hail also fell in the Bismarck-Mandan area with similar strong wind gusts.
Another storm system south of the cities caused similar damage from Lincoln into Stutsman County to the east, packing wind gusts of 60 mph that toppled trees and power lines.
Meteorologists say the hot, humid weather triggered the storms.
