FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – The Fargo Airport Authority met with city leaders Monday to discuss an on-going dispute about which entity has control of airport employees when it comes to a salary increase.
The two sides have been at odds for months after the airport authority proposed a pay raise for Airport Authority Executive Direction Shawn Dobberstein that would make him the highest paid city employee.
The Airport Authority says state law allows it to determine the director’s position and pay.
Mayor Tim Mahoney wants an official memorandum of understanding to clearly define that airport employees are city employees and that commissioners have input on setting the pay level for airport officials.
Airport Authority members gave no clear indication if they would accept a new agreement which city leaders want to have in place by August 1st.
