FARGO (KFGO) – Work is getting underway on a $21.5 million replacement St. Paul’s Newman Center near the NDSU campus. The Fargo Catholic Diocese has raised about $18-million to begin construction.
The chapel will more than double in size to 450. Offices, student lounges, a library, bookstore, coffee shop and social event space are part of the project, along with faith-based apartments for 88 students and priests. It should be ready in about two years.
Roers Development is also planning an $11-million, 85-unit apartment building to the south, a project neighbors have long questioned. Roers is still awaiting city action on possible tax incentives before it moves forward.
