FARGO (KFGO) – City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn says eliminating the airport authority board will likely be considered when the commission meets to talk about the authority’s refusal to accept a deal on whether employees actually work for the city.
The airport board plans to hire an outside company for payroll, health insurance and other benefits. The city contends that the arrangement would cost more.
Piepkorn, appearing on KFGO News and Views Wed., said the authority was created by the city commission 50 years ago and a recent attorney general’s opinion supports the city’s belief that it has the power to do away with the airport authority.
The commission may meet in executive session next week to discuss its next move.
