The Cheyenne Police Department will host its 10th annual Neighborhood Night Out on July 9.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says the multi-block party is designed to bring neighbors, businesses and police together to recognize and prevent crime in the community.

"The block parties are a way to strengthen community relationships and to get to know your local officers," he said.

Malatesta says about 25 block parties will be taking place throughout the city.

He urges anyone still interested in hosting a block party to contact him at (307) 633-6653 or kmalatesta@cheyennepd.org.

"It's not too late, but it's getting close," said Malatesta. "We do have to have permits and applications back to us by June 28."
