Citizens Help Nab Porch Pirate in Cheyenne

Three observant citizens are being credited with keeping a Cheyenne porch pirate at bay until police arrived.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says police were called to the 2500 block of E. 15th Street on April 16 after the three men observed a person, later identified as 19-year-old Donald Svare of Cheyenne, picking up a package from a porch and acting suspiciously.

The men quickly notified the police and were able to keep Svare talking with them until officers arrived.

Svare was arrested and charged with felony possession of burglar's tools, misdemeanor theft, misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine and interference with a peace officer.

Svare is currently being held in the Laramie County jail on a $3,000 cash bond.  His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 26 at 3 p.m.
