Roughly 1,000 Black Hills Energy customers have power back after a morning outage in Cheyenne.

Company spokeswoman Laurie Farkas says crews were called to the Dell Range Boulevard area between Powderhouse Road and Converse Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

"They were able to determine the cause as an issue with a failure in an underground cable," said Farkas.

Crews were able to replace the cable and had the power back on around 10:30 a.m.

"I just want to thank everybody for their patience," said Farkas.  "We were very concerned because it did affect the traffic lights, (but) everybody was really helping us and helping themselves by slowing down."
