Person struck by car in Salt Lake City

(KUTV) — A person was hit by a vehicle on Friday morning, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.

The person was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The incident occurred near 400 S. West Temple at approximately 6:30 a.m.

Police say the man was crossing the street against the light when the vehicle hit him. The driver slammed on the brakes and was rear-ended by a second vehicle.

Once at the hospital, the man's condition was changed to serious. He is expected to recover, police said.
