ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Some 400 red-t-shirt wearing mothers from across Missouri headed to Jefferson City Tuesday morning to lobby lawmakers for what they call 'common sense' gun laws.
They'll be heading there in car pools from 16 locations, twice the number of last year. One of those locations was the St. Louis County Library on South Lindbergh in Frontenac.
Mom's Demand Action, Missouri Volunteer Leader Becky Morgan says some are coming from rural areas that have started chapters of the organization in the last year.
"Last year's Advocacy Day was six days after Parkland," Morgan told KMOX's Brian Kelly. "And we've engaged so many more people throughout the state in that time, and now they're joining us."
Morgan says they'll be lobbying against a measure (HB 1936) to allow guns on college campuses, bars, daycares, amusement parks and casinos. In addition, they'll support a measure (HB 960) to keep guns away from domestic abusers.
