SUNSET HILLS, Mo. (KMOX) — A driver is dead after crashing into a bank building in Sunset Hills.

Sunset Hills Police Sgt. Ronnie Hagen tells KMOX the driver was discovered in an industrial park on Old Gravois acting suspicious. The industrial park has recently been the target of recent break-ins, and officers were keeping an eye on the area.

When discovered, the driver fled and police gave chase. Hagen says the suspect was driving erratically on Highway 30 and Lindbergh and police lost sight of him for a moment before discovering the vehicle had crashed into the BMO Harris Bank at Lindbergh and Rott.

The building itself is damaged, with a pole being bent in a crescent shape.

MoDOT says the right lane of southbound Lindbergh at Rott will be closed until at least 7 a.m.
