Nevada State Prisoner Who Had Trouble Breathing Dies

INDIAN SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) — An inmate has died at the state prison in Indian Springs.

The Nevada Department of Corrections says 78-year-old Clarence Gamble died Friday afternoon.

Officials said Tuesday that Gamble was having trouble breathing during a court hearing and was taken back to the High Desert State Prison infirmary. The medical staff attended to him until he died.

Gamble had been at the prison since September 2008. He was serving a sentence of 20 years to life for first-degree murder and aggravated stalking.

Prison officials say an autopsy will be conducted.
