COLORADO SPRINGS – More than 100 youth hockey teams are competing this weekend in Colorado Springs’ Presidents Day Youth Hockey Tournament.

The event is now in its 42nd year.

Organizers of the tournament said it’s one of the longest-running youth hockey tournaments in North America.

Teams traveled up to 3,200 miles to compete at the Broadmoor World Arena and other nearby rinks.

The tournament is expected to bring $2 million in tourism money to the city and surrounding region. Parents said traveling for an event like this isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it to see their kids having fun.

“It’s a lot, but I think the benefits far outweigh the sacrifices, the time, and money,” said Blake Jakaboski, mother of four players.

The games will continue through Monday and admission is free.
