A very good boy helped deputies catch an intruder who authorities say broke into a Troutdale apartment early Tuesday morning.

According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, German Shepherd Kalvin’s family was asleep when the suspect went into their apartment in the 800 block of SW 257th Avenue.

"I heard Kalvin growling from his kennel in the living room," said David Moreno.

Moreno got up to investigate. He says he walked into the living room with the light on his phone turned on. He saw a man sitting on the couch and he immediately opened the door to Kalvin's kennel.

"He ran right up to him barking," says Moreno.

Kalvin ended up holding the suspect, identified as Casey Eaton, until MCSO deputies could arrive at the scene.

Eaton was later booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a trespassing charge.
