BILLINGS – A winter storm with more punch than expected will dump over 6″ of snow in Billings on Monday.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for Yellowstone and eastern Carbon counties until 8 p. m. Monday evening.
Plan on slippery road conditions with reduced visibility.
Billings police are advising to stay off roads if possible. They report severe ice conditions are forming on city streets and many hills in town are proving impassable for vehicle travel.
The city snowplows are out and will continue to plow throughout the day.

The area from Billings south into northern Wyoming will see the greatest snow amounts and Interstate 90 from Billings to Sheridan will have difficult travel conditions.
Highway 212 from Laurel to Red Lodge will also be snow-packed and icy.
Temperatures will remain in the low 30’s for most of the day.
