PHOENIX — A closure on Interstate 10 in west Phoenix will affect motorists throughout the weekend.
Eastbound I-10 will be closed between 83rd and 51st avenues between 9 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Monday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The closure is for construction of a Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.
ADOT suggests motorists use alternate routes, including Loop 101 west of Interstate 17, or exiting I-10 before 83rd Avenue and re-entering after 51st Avenue.
Additionally, the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway southbound ramp to eastbound I-10 and the southbound Thomas road on-ramp will be closed.
Drivers can use Thomas or McDowell roads to connect with eastbound I-10 at 51st Avenue.
The 22-mile South Mountain Freeway is scheduled to be completed in 2020.

U.S. 60 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions between Tomahawk Road and milepost 208 from 10 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday for pavement improvements.
The southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Elliott Road and southbound off-ramp at Warner Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
