PHOENIX – A Phoenix mom was charged with using her teenage daughter to hide illegal drugs during a traffic stop, authorities said Wednesday.

Rufina Lopez Covarruvia, 43, was indicted on multiple charges for allegedly getting her 13-year-old daughter to hide a bag of cocaine in her bra last month, according to a press release from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

The package, which contained $130 worth of drugs, fell out of the girl’s bra during the stop, the release said.

Two other children, ages 10 and 2, were in Covarruvia’s vehicle when it was pulled over Sept. 19.

A state grand jury indicted Covarruvia on five felony counts — involving or using a minor in a drug offense; conspiracy; illegal enterprise; transportation of a narcotic drug for sale over a statutory threshold; and possession of a narcotic drug for sale — plus a misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended license.

The release said she was involved in drug trafficking by buying amounts of cocaine to split into smaller bags to resell.

Covarruvia’s arraignment hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22.
