PHOENIX — A Mediterranean restaurant with Israeli-inspired menu items is expected to open in downtown Phoenix this December.

Condesa will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch, as well as a cafe with to-go items and a coffee counter, according to a press release.

The 12,000-square-foot space will open Dec. 2 at the Renaissance Square on First Avenue and Washington Street.

Condesa will seat 350 people in its dining room and offer five private event spaces, as well as a shop for local vendors.

The restaurant was named after a Mexico City neighborhood that experienced an influx of Eastern European, Middle Eastern and Spanish immigrants in the 1940s and ’50s, according to the release.

The menu will include tableside hummus with hand-mashed chickpeas, Wagyu beef, masa ball soup and a craft cocktail list focused on mezcal and tequila.

The restaurant will be San Diego-based Legal Restaurants’ first concept in Arizona.
