August 13th, 2020 | Justin Hanshew

Over the last month or so, the U.S. Drought Monitor has shown the development of a D-3 drought over a part of central and west-central Iowa.  Iowa State Extension recently held a series of drought meetings in 10 locations within the impacted area.  Here is some insight into the various aspects of those meetings…..

ISU Extension Beef Specialist Beth Doran on impacts to livestock management and harvesting corn for silage…

ISU Extension Field Agronomist Paul Kassel on the droughts impact to field crops, how crops are responding to the dryness, and is there still time for the soybeans to make a full crop….

ISU Extension Farm Management Specialist Gary Wright on the crop insurance aspect of a drought, dont forget about the WHIP program, and other management items….
