The 15 Freeway reopened at the California-Nevada state line after snow and ice-related accidents forced a closure of all lanes early Monday.
Caltrans shut down lanes in both directions, announcing around 6:15 a.m. that it expected the freeway to remain inaccessible for two to three hours. The closure has since been lifted, Caltrans tweeted just before 10 a.m.
Earlier, the agency advised motorists to “find a warm place to pull off and hold on place” and drive cautiously amid icy conditions. Authorities suggested drivers exit at Primm in Nevada.
Cold and wet weather blocked several roads and freeways across Southern California in the days leading to the Presidents Day holiday weekend. Las Vegas, a popular destination for locals, has some snow in the forecast.
Meanwhile, the Grapevine just started reopening after officials blocked it Sunday due to snow, hail, black ice and multiple collisions.
