BILLINGS- A Billings man who police say led officers on a chase through downtown Billings Monday also gave a false name when taken into custody.

Joseph Medina, 28 is facing several felony charges, including eluding police and criminal endangerment for his role in a Monday night incident.

Police said Medina initially told authorities that his name was Brian Webb, but officials later determined that name was incorrect.

The incident started around 9:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the downtown Albertsons grocery store with a complaint of a man in his 20s “acting weird” and trying to pick fights, said Billings Police Sgt. Bret Becker.

Two officers responded, and the man jumped into his silver pickup truck when he saw them and drove behind the Home 2 Suites by Hilton hotel across the street, Becker said.

Police attempted to pull him over and he took off, T-boned a red Ford Edge on North 27th Street, and then tried to flee police on foot, Becker said. He was caught after about a block.

The driver of the silver pickup was taken to the hospital and likely faces multiples felonies, including a possible DUI and traffic violations, Becker said.

A female passenger was also detained on a warrant.

Two people went to the hospital after the ordeal Monday night.
