BILLINGS- We hope you’re enjoying this warm before the storm in Billings Wednesday. You see the temperatures are already into the low 40s but are expected to fall as the snow falls.
There is plenty of cold air hovering around the Hi-Line waiting to move into south-central Montana as a new cold front advances from the North. Temperatures up there were subzero.
The temperatures in the north remain pretty chilly when compared to the 40s in Billings and northern Wyoming.
The threat board is full from this next storm, especially in central Montana. We have a Winter Weather Advisory for various amounts of snow.
In Billings, we could see two to three inches of snow before the week is finished.
The Doppler radar and satellite imagery shows snow continues from Missoula to Great Falls all the way over to Jordan and Glasgow.
That band of snow is the one we believe will probably move into the Billings area later Wednesday evening.
The high-resolution forecast model shows that that battle starts moving into Billings about 6 p.m. along with some colder temperatures.
Those snow showers will stick around to the evening and then kick out of here by 6 a.m. Thursday.
After that, a fresh supply of moisture moves in from the southwest and will bring more snow to the Billings area about midnight Friday.
The computer models are pretty close together on this indicate Billings could see two to three inches of snow, or possibly even four inches.
The sun could come out on Thursday but the temperatures will remain cool, only into the teens. Then back up to the upper 20s by Friday and into the single digits as we start off next week.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a 90 percent chance for snow in the evening and then overnight. Accumulations of 2 inches are possible. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Low 2 degrees.
THURSDAY: Mostly sunny and cold with a 30 percent chance for morning snow showers. Look for an additional 2 inches of snow overnight High 18 degrees.
FRIDAY: Snow likely in the morning then a 60 percent chance for snow in the afternoon. North winds 5 to 15 mph, Returning to the South in the afternoon. High 25 degrees.
