SILVERTON, Ore. – A series of prescribed burns sent up a large plume of smoke Tuesday afternoon in the Stayton and Aumsville area, located to the south and east of Salem.
The smoke was from about 50 permitted field burns, according to emergency dispatchers.
The land owners had permits through the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
KATU News received several reports of the large plume of smoke rising to the east of Salem and north of Sublimity. Some expressed concern because of the recent fire near Silver Falls State Park.
