Police: Sweet Home man arrested in Albany after pursuit of stolen vehicle

ALBANY, Ore. -- Linn County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man in Albany following a stolen vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit began on 7th Avenue near Hill Street around 5:40 a.m. Wednesday.

The gray 2017 Nissan Pathfinder was reportedly stolen out of Sweet Home.

Deputies pursued the vehicle to Bi-Mart on Santiam Highway.

The suspect, Ryan Kelly Rikala, 32, of Sweet Home, ran from the vehicle and was quickly taken into custody without force, police said.

Rikala was taken to the Albany General Hospital for a complaint of a medical issue.

He was released and transported to Linn County Jail where he was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and outstanding warrants for Parole Violation and Contempt of Court.
