Up and away

Nancy Silverton is lending her name, talent, and time to the Ojai Valley Inn’s new Farmhouse event space. The brand new space is meant to be a general on-property meeting spot for large groups, but ownership is also pulling in a variety of one-off culinary nights from Silverton and more. Those wine dinners, lunches, and cooking classes will sometimes be helmed by Silverton and feature guests like Phil Rosenthal, and will be open to the public. Time to make some weekend plans.

Party with a purpose

Planned Parenthood’s annual Food Fare is tonight. The 40-year event honors some of the city’s most influential chefs (this year it’s Helene An) and comes with plenty of awesome food out at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

Lunch is alive

Stella Barra has launched a new lunch in Santa Monica, offering things like fried chicken sandwiches and classic heros, plus meatballs, wings, pizzas, salads, and more.

Classes coming

Recreational cooking classes are coming to Pasadena’s Institute of Culinary Education. The culinary school is branching out for home cooks with hands-on basic skills classes from knife work to baking and beyond.

It’s fine

Downtown’s Superfine Pizza is doing a nice deal next Thursday, March 14 (aka “Pi Day”), wherein diners can pick up a whole vegan or cheese pie for $14 and add three toppings of their choice for free. Not bad.

Party in Chinatown

Chinatown After Dark returns tonight with food and music and more. Expect bites from Katsu Sando, Wax Paper, Royce Burke, and others, running 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
