Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid, left, and New York Knicks’ Michael Beasley battle for position during the second half of an NBA basketball game, Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, in New York. The 76ers defeated the Knicks 105-98.

The sixth season of the annual Play of the Day betting competition between the Sun's sports staff is now underway, effective July 1.

Bankrolls start at $10,000 for each of the four participants, with the objective to increase it as much as possible over the next year. The minimum daily wager is $300, with a $200 penalty assessed for failing to place a bet on an assigned day.

Past winners are Case Keefer in 2018-19 and 2017-2018, Ray Brewer in 2016-2017 and 2015-2016, and Taylor Bern in 2014-2015.

Philadelphia 76ers minus-7 vs. Chicago Bulls: $660 to win $600

The 76ers aren't hitting on all cylinders by any means, as they continue to try to figure out how to make bully-ball work in the modern NBA. But if there's an opponent that should work against, it's the undersized Bulls. The 76ers should be able to pound Chicago inside and win by double digits.

Current Standings: Grimala (12-5, $8,865), Keefer (22-22-2, $5,835), Emerson (11-16, $6,050), Brewer (10-11, $5,595)
