Giannis suspended for seeding finale against 9th place Memphis

The Memphis Grizzlies, the current 9th place team in the Western Conference and one of four teams who is fighting for the 8th seed in the West and the opportunity to meet the Los Angeles Lakers, got a momentous gift from reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The NBA announced on Wednesday that Milwaukee’s MVP will be suspended for Thursday’s all-important game for the Memphis Grizzlies, against the Bucks. The Grizzlies are a half-game behind the Blazers for 8th. If both Portland and Memphis win on Thursday, Portland will finish in 8th and Memphis will finish in 9th. But if Portland loses to the Nets and the Grizzlies win, they will jump to 8. But simply put, the Grizzlies need to win tomorrow against the Bucks to have a chance to make the first round of the playoffs. Also, even without Giannis, the Bucks still have the best record in the league.

The Lakers will await the results of those games after they finish their seeding game schedule tomorrow afternoon against the Sacramento Kings.
