Budding songwriters are being invited to enter a competition in Lichfield.

The L2F Song Writing Competition is being organised by Lichfield Arts and is designed to encourage and develop new folk talent.

Now in its third year, the contest will feature prizes including £150 and time in a recording studio for the best overall song, and £50 for best song in the under 19 category. All finalists will also be invited to attend a songwriting masterclass led by John Tams

Songs shortlisted for the final will be performed at the 2019 Lichfield Festival of Folk (L2F) on 20th October.

Entry costs £5 per song for people over 19 and free for those under 19 on 1st September. Up to two songs can entered, with a maximum running time of five minutes.

The deadline fore entries is 7th September.

A spokesman said: “The L2F competition is a great opportunity for all creatives.

“It keeps going from strength to strength and attracts increasingly high quality entries.”
