IMI Precision Engineering’s Ryan Lenton-Kane saw off competition from 30 other apprentices from across the West Midlands to secure the Most Improved Learner of the Year title at the In-Comm Training Awards.

He impressed judges with the way he is working towards his BTEC Level 3, while becoming an important member of the new product development team, showing a natural aptitude for the latest simulation tools.

His most recent achievement has been working as part of the team to design, develop and build a new exhibition panel showcasing the company’s latest digital products to a global audience at the Hannover Fair.

Bekki Phillips, joint managing director at In-Comm Training, said: “We recognised and celebrated the best of the region’s vocational talent – the stars of business and industry and, more than likely, the business leaders of the future that are helping their employers work smarter, launch new products and services and, importantly, increase sales.

“Ryan is a fantastic example of how a young person can use an apprenticeship to get started on his career and then quickly make an impact with his business.

“It has given him the springboard to hopefully achieve his aim of becoming a design engineer at IMI Precision Engineering.”
