Maltese Student Gives Fiery Speech At Corruption Protest: ’Joseph Muscat Is a Crook With No Conscience’
A Maltese university student ripped into Prime Minister Joseph Muscat at tonight’s anti-corruption protest in Valletta, deriding him as a “crook with no conscience”
Petra Caruana recounted how her former German housemate was left astounded when she explained the situation in Malta to her two years ago following the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
“I tried to explain the corruption in Malta and she kept asking what the police were doing and why the Prime Minister wasn’t taking any action? I said he is; he’s the one behind it all. If not, we’d have had a public inquiry by now. He’s a crook with no conscience and the same goes for the rest of his gang.”
“Times likes these are infuriating and can leave you feeling hopeless but its times like these that we must look back at history for hope. We’ve been through these times before and we’ll get through them again.”
“We must be more critical and active, passivity doesn’t mean anything. Are we tired? Yes. Are we fed up with being bombarded with bad news of trees being chopped, people buying Maltese passports and Keith Schembri running away from the courts? Yes, but we won’t give up.”
“Daphne didn’t give up on us and we won’t give up on her. L-aqwa żmien? Hell no, not in the slightest. One day, crooks will be behind bars, journalists won’t have to fear for their lives and we won’t have to protest for justice because we’ll be able to rely on our justice system.”
