We hope everyone had a fun and safe Legend of Rawhide Weekend and were able to see the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall. Both were a great opportunity for visitors as well as locals to enjoy our community. However, we still have plenty of fun things to do such as Niobrara Strong Day with inflatable rides, swimming pool activities, concessions, color run at the fairgrounds and a dance at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds on Saturday, July 27.

The fair will be happening July 27 through August 2 with many fun activities planned, including the Ag Olympics. The Niobrara Chamber of Commerce and the Niobrara County Fair Board will be bringing rising star Jake Gill in concert on Wednesday, August 7. Tickets will be available at the Chamber office soon so plan to come out at 7 p.m. on the 7 and enjoy some great music. You can check out his music on www.jakegill.net.

The Niobrara Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors held their monthly board meeting on Wednesday, July 10, and the following is a summary of the meeting: (1) Treasurer’s balance of accounts is $11,107.79; (2) Niobrara Strong Day will be Saturday, July 27, and setup will begin at 8:30 a.m.; (3)Experience Works: Still trying to work with them to get another person in the office; (4) Business Updates: Hiway Super Service is now closed as Gene has retired. Vatos Tacos will be setting up a taco truck in The Cramped Closet parking lot and hopes to be open six days a week. Rough and Refined has painted the outside of their building and put up a new sign which looks very nice and inviting; (5) There is a billboard located just south of Wheatland available for $6,000 a year. Jackie will check with Guernsey and Fort Laramie to see if they would like to work together to advertise our communities; (6) Recreation Grant: We received funding to help with the inflatable rides, the Jake Gill concert, and for the EMS to build a dunking tank; (7) Wyoming Tree Farm has donated Howdy signs for all Chamber businesses who would like one. They are available at our office for free; (8) The Town of Lusk has put up new, larger signs for the golf course with a grant from the Chamber of Commerce, while the Town paid for the other. We also purchased a tee marker for the golf course; (9) Several nominations were made for the yard of the month and board members will let the director know ASAP as to which one will receive the honors; (10) There will not be a Business After Hours in July but WMPA will be hosting one in August, and the library in September.
