MANCHESTER, N.H. – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are still winless on their current home stand, losing 6-4 to Trenton in 11 innings on Friday night.
New Hampshire got onto the board first thanks to Riley Adams’ RBI single to left, but the Thunder evened things up in the third thanks to a double from Chris Gittens.
Ben Ruta opened up a three-run fifth for Trenton, giving them a lead that would decrease in the sixth thanks to a pair of RBI singles from New Hampshire’s Brock Lundquist and Albert Mineo, and eventually disappear with Logan Warmoth’s first-pitch single in the eighth.
The deadlock was broken in the 11th as a lead-off double from Mandy Alvarez brought extra-innings bonus runner Kellin Deglan home to scorep. Alvarez later would be brought home to give Trenton a cushion the Fisher Cats could not overcome.
Domingo Acevedo got his fifth lifetime win against the Fisher Cats, climbing to 7-1 thanks to his two innings of scoreless relief in the 10th and 11th. Bryan Baker earned the loss, falling to 2-5.
At the plate for New Hampshire, Adams, Lundquist and Warmoth each had a pair of hits.
The series continues at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday. Yennsy Diaz (5-5, 3.50 ERA) takes the mound for New Hampshire against Trenton’s Trevor Stephan (1-4, 3.77 ERA)
