Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) is missing Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) but could he be missing her enough to have a full blown affair with a fellow Coronation Street resident?
Quite the scandal could be set to hit the cobbles – Tyrone and Mary Taylor (Patti Clare)?! Who’d have thought?
Blimey. Not quite a couple you’d expect, but is everything as it seems?
It comes about when Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) suggests Mary help Tyrone as he begins to struggle juggling parenthood and work. Mary is overjoyed at the suggestion and tells him she doesn’t even want paying, she just likes to feel needed. After her son Jude (Paddy Wallace) treated her so terribly and took advantage of her giving nature, she’s quite unused to someone being kind and just wants to be of help. Is she starting to fall for Tyrone?
Mary takes her role super seriously, even offering to babysit so that Tyrone and Kevin (Michael Le Vell) can pop out for a few beers. Tyrone’s touched when she offers to leave a hot water bottle in his bed for when he returns, but Kevin clocks a spark between them – it’s not usual for someone to offer to warm up someone else’s bed, he reckons Mary is falling hard.
At the end of the night as Tyrone thanks Mary and sends her on her way, he’s horrified to find a Valentine’s card on the mat.
Tyrone is worried it might be from Mary as he thinks he recognises her handwriting. He recruits Kevin, and they concoct a plan to find out, ordering some flowers and getting Mary to write the card.
Tyrone is dumbfounded and a little bit petrified to see that the handwriting matches, and he thinks Mary’s in love with him!
Would Tyrone consider a saucy affair with his neighbour? What the heck would Fiz say?!
