Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Haaland is concerned about the prospect of sitting on the bench should he decide to join Manchester United.

The Norwegian forward is a target for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who worked with the striker when he was Molde boss and is keen on signing a new central figure to compete with Anthony Martial.

The 19-year-old has scored an astonishing 28 times in 22 appearances this term and his father, Alf-Inge, is believed to have visited United’s training ground earlier this season to discuss a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

However, United face plenty of competition for his signature from the likes of Dortmund and the Guardian claims Haaland has reservations about moving to the Premier League club.

The teenager fears his development could be disrupted by playing second fiddle to the likes of Martial and Marcus Rashford, while he’d also rather join a Champions League club.

It’s claimed Haaland has similar hang-ups over a move to Juventus and is more likely to move to Germany.

Nevertheless, Haaland is expected to hold talks with United and Juventus in the coming weeks to discuss his future.

Salzburg value the forward at around £60m but the Guardian say he has a release clause of around £21m.
