The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) today expressed its delight over the quick steps taken by the government in constructing the roads in the state capital Kohima.

“We see quality change of roads for the first time in Kohima covering almost every corner of the city. Far from the muddy and dusty face of the capital, it has taken a city akin to be called a city it deserves. We feel this pace should be covered all over Nagaland,” stated AYO president Neinguvotuo Krose and general secretary Kekhrie Pfukha.

Ayo stated that the timely initiation and completion of works by various  contractors who shaped Kohima roads are highly commendable and thanked the state government for its efforts in shaping Kohima as it is now.

Further, it also urged the government to monitor and advise the contractors to maintain their areas of construction according to the specified guaranteed period.

AYO also appealed all citizens of Kohima to responsibly utilize the facilities made available to Kohima city.

Expressing concern on irresponsible parking, throwing out waste in running cars, AYO advised drivers of both public and private transport to use car bin to dispose their waste inside the car and later dump it at the appropriately designated place.

Stating that it is improper to block the roads with building materials, releasing septic tanks without proper procedures, dumping waste in the rivulets etc, AYO stated “We must all get involved in building up our city by contributing a respectable and responsible lifestyle.”

AYO acknowledged that it was a delightful moment to have come across the various colony denizens of Kohima city extending their overwhelming cooperation and support making it their responsibility when KVYO and KVSU initiated to clean up Sanuorü and Dzüvürü rivers.

This spirit of Kohima citizens' consciousness and conscience is truly inspiring. It must not stop, it stated.

“We trust that Kohima will unite and create a new Kohima city not just in infrastructural development but more so of smart people,” AYO stated.
